A fabulous sterling silver book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is comprised of braided rings that link together, forming a wide chain collar necklace. The bottom row of rings ends in sterling balls that are flat on the back and rounded on the front surface, completing the look beautifully. The round sterling balls are hollow and the back is decorated with a cutout star design. At the center of the chain is a large spring clasp that opens and makes it easy to attach a complimentary pendant or locket. A fabulous necklace, it is comfortable to wear and would look wonderful worn alone or paired with a Victorian locket or pendant!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18.5" long, is 7/8" at the widest point and a little more than 1/4" in depth.
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver and the clasp is secure and in good working condition.
