An absolutely magnificent 14kt gold and onyx locket/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous and unusual piece is made of solid black onyx and is hand carved into the shape of a shield. On the front of the piece is an ornate design made of 14kt rose gold and accented with pearls and a single diamond. Prong set at the very center is an old Mine Cut diamond which weighs approximately .34ctw. The pearls are set on all four sides of the diamond, incorporated into the bursting gold design which surrounds the center stone. The onyx locket hangs from a pearl encrusted bail and on the back is a gold framed glass locket which is a perfect place for your favorite photograph. It's a beautiful and unusual piece from the Victorian era and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, 1 3/8" wide and slightly more than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the onyx or gold and all of the pearls and the diamond are intact. The gold frame on the back of the locket closes easily and stays securely closed.
