A fabulous etched pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This large piece is simply stunning and very unusual. Oval in shape, the pendant has a scalloped border and a 3-dimensional look. In the center is an oval plaque-like surface that has a very detailed and fantastic etched design. Within the design is the letter "R" which is detailed with black tracery enameling. The scalloped border surrounds the oval plaque, which is also detailed with a fine etched design as well as eight 15pt old Rose Cut diamonds. A large etched bail is at the top of the pendant which is perfect for attaching to a wide Victorian chain. Very light in weight, this outstanding piece would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant measures approximately 2" at the tallest point, 1 5/8" at the widest point and a little less than 3/8" thick. The inside of the bail measures 5/8" tall and 1/4" at the widest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold and all of the diamonds are intact. There is a small amount of damage to the black tracery which is not unusual for a Victorian pendant and hardly noticeable when it is worn.
