A fabulous amethyst pendant/locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful pendant/locket, is made of 15kt yellow gold and detailed with delicate fine Etruscan wirework. In the center of the piece is a foil-back, cabochon amethyst stone that is bezel set and surrounded by a rope wire border. From the bottom of the pendant dangles a foxtail comprised of 19 chain tassels and spears, which are attached at the bottom of the piece. Hanging from the center tassel is another foil-back, cabochon, amethyst stone and one last gold spear hangs from the stone. The back of the piece reveals a glass-covered spot for a favorite photograph, and the entire pendant hangs from a 15kt fluted bail. This wonderful piece would make a great addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 3 1/2" long, is 1 3/8" at the widest point, and has a depth of 5/8" at the deepest point. The center amethyst has a diameter of 1/2", while the hanging amethyst has a diameter of 3/8”.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold, chain tassels, or to the amethyst stones. The locket back is secure and in good working condition.
