A simply outstanding crystal and multi stone bug pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This fabulous piece is made from a large, round plaque of faceted rock quartz crystal held in a 14kt yellow gold bezel. Riveted into the center of the front of the piece is a spectacular 14kt yellow gold bug that resembles a fly. The center of the bug's body holds a faceted garnet stone with a beautiful, deep scarlet red color and each wing is decorated with a vertical row of two vibrant green emerald stones and a small ruby in between them. The fly's head features a larger ruby stone and two smaller ruby eyes. The yellow gold against the multi colored gemstones looks marvelous and gives the fly a very attractive, eye-catching look. At the top of the piece is a large fluted bail made of yellow gold, which is hinged. A fantastic piece, it would look spectacular worn from a gold chain, and would make a striking addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 3/4" long. The rock quartz crystal plaque has a diameter of slightly more than 1 1/4" and is approximately 5/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the 14kt yellow gold or to the faceted rock quartz crystal. The gold bug and garnet, ruby and emerald stones are all intact, and the bail is secure and in good working condition.
