Victorian Large Sterling Painted Porcelain Portrait & Pearl Pendant
A lovely painted porcelain pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous piece, which is particularly large is size, has a single oval shaped porcelain plaque set within a gilded sterling frame. The porcelain has the wonderful painted portrait of a beautiful and angelic young woman with a thoughtful gaze. The color and detail of the image is incredible, including delicate hair, fine facial features, and realistic folds and accents in her clothing. The picture is hand painted and covered in a clear enamel surface, beautifully preserving the portrait. Surrounding the porcelain image is a frame made of gilded sterling and a border of natural pearls. At the top of the piece is a simple sterling silver bail, allowing the pendant to be hung from a long chain. It's a wonderful piece and would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2 1/2" long, is 1 3/4" wide and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the painted porcelain portrait or to the gilded sterling silver setting and the bail is secure and intact.
