Victorian Sterling & Enamel Snake Pin/Pendant

SKU: 34140

A fabulous snake pin/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is made of sterling silver and has a beautiful and vibrant enamel surface. The piece represents a detailed snake, whose body coils and loops to form a pretzel-like shape, with the snake's head emerging at the center. The snake's scales are individually marked by a textured border and colorful enamel in vibrant green, reddish brown and black hues. The scales get progressively smaller as they move towards the snake's tail and head creating a very realistic and 3-dimensional look. The underside of the piece reveals a long bar pin that runs across the back as well as a small sterling loop attached under the snake's head, allowing it to be worn as a pin or a pendant. The back is stamped "STERLING" along with a small hallmark. A fabulous and very artistic piece, it's perfect for any snake lover and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!

Measurements: The piece measures 2 1/4" wide, 2" tall, and approximately 1/2" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides minimal normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the enameling or sterling and the bar pin and bail are both in good working condition.
