Victorian 9kt & Enamel "IN MEMORY OF" Mourning Ring

SKU: 37379

$1,695
A wonderful gold mourning ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful ring is made of 9kt yellow gold (indicating English origin) and has a simple, yet lovely enameled design. The outside of the band has a black enameled surface, with gold edges at the top and bottom that are slightly hammered for a subtle, textured effect. Gold letters stand out atop the black enamel background, which read: “IN MEMORY OF”. The black enamel looks fantastic paired with the vibrant yellow gold, creating a striking look! Stamped inside the band are several English hallmarks, including "H&S", "9", "375", "t" and another small symbol. It appears that the inside of the band was once engraved with an inscription, which is no longer legible due to wear and is only faintly visible. This beautiful Victorian mourning ring would look wonderful worn alone or stacked with other bands, and would make a special addition to any collection!

Measurements: The band has a large finger size 8.5, and measures 1/4" wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to either the gold setting or to the enamel.
