Art Nouveau 18kt Gold Lapis Locket Ring
A magnificent locket ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! This unusual piece is made of vibrant 18kt yellow gold and a large lapis stone is set in the center. The unpolished lapis stone is a deep, royal blue color and reveals small metallic specks, sitting within a heavy octagonal gold frame. A geometric pattern with gold beads and triangular shapes frame the top and the bottom of the stone and the band features a beautiful motif of leaves and vines. The lapis face opens to reveal a small hidden compartment, an interesting and mysterious detail. The inside of the locket and underneath the ring are both stamped with the hallmarks "750" as well as a marker's mark. The ring is simply outstanding and would look exceptional worn by either a woman or a man!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of a large 6.75 but could be easily re-sized. The front of the ring measures slightly less than 7/8" tall, is 3/4" wide, and approximately 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold or unpolished lapis stone and the locket face opens easily and stays securely closed.
