An absolutely gorgeous Etruscan earring and pin set from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each piece is made of 18kt yellow gold and is ornately detailed with fine Etruscan ball and wirework. All three pieces feature a starburst design in the center, which holds a luscious ruby in the middle surrounded by delicate natural seed pearls. The pin has an elongated ellipse shape with a dome-like center, and two gold balls at either side. A twisted gold rope design surrounds the base of the dome and adds a lovely accent. The back of the pendant reveals a circular compartment where a photograph or picture can be stored behind glass. Currently, the piece holds a beautiful painted miniature, which depicts the portrait of a woman. The pin fastens with a simple bar pin clasp that runs horizontally across the entire length of the piece. The earrings have a complimentary oval shape held within a teardrop shaped frame, which is also accented with a single gold ball at the bottom. A swirled Grecian style surmount attaches to the simple yellow gold earring wires at the top of each earring. The earrings and pin come in their original fitted case signed "Thompson & Vine, London," adding to the historical appeal of the piece. It's a stunning set and would make an incredible addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 1 7/8" long, are 7/8" at their widest point, and have a depth of 3/8" at the thickest point. The pin measures approximately 2" long, 1 1/2 " tall, and has a depth of 5/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the pin and earring set is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to any of the pearls or rubies, all of which are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
