Victorian 12kt Scottish Agate Horseshoe Cigar Cutter Pendant

SKU: 34457

A unusual agate horseshoe cigar cutter pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of 12kt yellow gold, the pendant was originally a functioning cigar cutter which has a gold bail, allowing it to be worn as a pendant. The pendant is reversible and has a unique design on the surface of each side. One side features several pieces of inlaid Scottish agate stones which have beautiful earthy colors in tones of brown, forest green, and dark blue. The opposing face of the pendant has a yellow gold background with 7 (always 7 for good luck!) silver nails. The piece is hinged at the top and can be squeezed inwards, allowing the yellow gold blades to create a scissoring action, which would have been used to clip the tip of a cigar. The blades are marked "PATOCT 580" on both sides. This fabulous pendant would look wonderful hung from a gold chain. It's a special piece that would make a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 1/4" long, is 7/8" wide and approximately 3/16" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold or to and all of the agate stones are intact. The cigar cutter mechanism is fully functional and in good working condition.
