Carl Schon was a Baltimore jeweler in the 1920's who became famous for his designs in sterling silver. His most famous designs were detailed depictions of seahorses, however, he also incorporated other works into his repertoire. His company made use of stones and jewelry imported from Europe and created custom designs, often by plating actual seahorses in silver or gold and incorporating the customer's name into the piece. Carl Schon, Inc. continued the artist's legacy after his death and manufactured jewelry until the 1970's. Today, his rare pieces are highly collectable and continue to appeal to jewelry lovers for their exceptional detail and wonderful artistry.
This fabulous signed ring by Carl Schon is a wonderful Vintage piece from the 1950's! A bold and unusual sterling silver piece, the ring depicts a detailed skull, which is surrounded by bones that form the shoulders of the ring. The skull has a 3-dimensional look, complete with realistic features, engraved teeth, and delicate garnet cabochons for eyes. The ring is fairly large in size and curves slightly, allowing it to fit comfortably on the wearer's finger. Stamped on the inside of the band is the signature Carl Schon hallmark, "CS". This fun and unique ring has a very striking look, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 5.25 however it could easily be sized if desired.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is great. There is some minimal natural surface wear to the silver which could be polished out if desired, however, from a collectors stand point, we decided not to alter it from its original state. The garnet eyes are intact.
