A rare Vintage Bakelite tortoise pin from the 1950’s! This large Bakelite piece depicts a handsome tortoise and has a 3-dimensional look. Twelve faux cabochon chalcedony stones are prong set resting at the center of the shell. The stones have a gorgeous pearly blue coloring and the outer shell, head, and legs of the tortoise are made of translucent Bakelite, which has unique coloring. The eyes of the tortoise are portrayed by white enamel and on the underside of the piece safety pin clasp. It's a wonderful and unusual pin and a must have for the Bakelite collector!
Measurement: The pin measures a little less than 2 7/8" long, slightly less than 2" at the widest point and has a depth of approximately 5/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no damage to the Bakelite and all of the faux chalcedony stones are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
