Renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen was born in 1866. His training in metalsmithing and his education in the Fine Arts enabled him to develop a successful career based in beautiful jewelry and silver design. His signature Art Nouveau style grew increasingly popular and Jensen became a world renowned artist. Although Jensen died in 1935, his pieces are still being created today using the same craftsmanship as when he was alive.
This Vintage sterling silver charm/pendant from the 1960's is a wonderful example of Georg Jensen's craft! The sterling piece is round in shape and features the raised image of a horse's head in profile on the front surface. The horse is depicted with simple, angular features that exemplify Jensen's unique style. The same iconic horse head image was also featured in other works by Jensen, but the pendant is a very versatile and unique find! The back of the pendant is stamped "STERLING" and "DENMARK" along with a small Georg Jensen signature hallmark. At the top of the piece is a silver loop and jump ring, making it easy to hang and wear. The size of the piece would be perfect either as a charm, or worn alone on a simple sterling chain as a pendant. This wonderful equestrian-inspired piece by an exceptional and beloved silversmith would make a very special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 7/8" long, has a diameter of 3/4" and measures approximately 1/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the sterling silver piece and the jump ring is intact. There is a natural patina on the silver, which is normal for a Vintage sterling silver piece and adds a lovely depth to the appearance.
