Victorian 14kt & Black Tracery Pocket Watch w/Key & Box
A fantastic Locle pocket watch from the Victorian (ca1875) era! Made of 14kt yellow gold, the watch has a gorgeous matching design on its front and back, displaying a floral motif, along with two doves. The design is done in black tracery and looks fantastic next to the vibrant yellow gold! One side opens from the top to reveal the watch, which has a white background and black numbers. The exceptional detail is even portrayed with its beautiful and ornate hands. This side of the pocket watch is engraved “May 11, 1875” and “W.M.” The other side of the pocket watch opens from the side to reveal smooth gold stamped with the makers mark “LOCLE”, “17093”, “9045”, “11”, along with the engravings “N90495” and “F. Mathile”. It is from this side that the watch is wound. The watch is in good working condition and comes with a key for winding, along with the original box! It's a magnificent pocket watch and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurement: The pocket watch measures a little less than 2 1/4" tall, and has a diameter of slightly more than 1 1/2", and is slightly more than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the watch is excellent. Besides normal surface wear to the gold there is no serious damage to the watch and very minimal damage to the black tracery. Watches of this era should be cleaned and oiled periodically and at this time, the watch is in fine working order and keeping good time.
