Victorian 14kt & Pave Persian Turquoise Earrings
Gorgeous earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era. A pair of pave (French for pavement) set Persian turquoise and 14kt yellow gold hanging earrings. The surmount, which holds the gold earring wires, consists of a single domed, oval which is covered in pave set Persian turquoise. Dangling from the surmount is a 3-dimensional 14kt gold plaque which is decorated with six raised leaf-like appliques and lovely scrolled engraving. Another domed oval, also covered in pave set turquoise, rests in the center of the gold plaque. Each section is detailed with a thin gold rope border and each turquoise section is hand set.. The cabochon turquoise pieces vary in size and slightly in color and cover the entire surface of each of the 4 domed oval shapes. A few turquoise pieces are slightly green due to natural aging which is typical for turquoise from this period. The colors of the gold and turquoise compliment each other beautifully and have a rich, Victorian look. A simply lovely pair of earrings perfect for the Victorian lover!
