Pair of Black, Red & Yellow Carved Bakelite Bangle Bracelets
Bakelite is a resin material that was produced in the early 1900's and was the first plastic substance made of synthetic components. Initially used for its electrically non conductive and heat resistant properties in radio and telephone castings, the material was also used in other products such as kids' toys, kitchenware and jewelry. Typically made of bright, beautiful colors, Bakelite has become very collectible over recent years and is appreciated amongst many.
A fabulous pair of Bakelite bracelets from the 1940's era! This funky set is comprised of 2 complementary bangle bracelets that differ in color patterns but share the same wonderful carved design. Both bracelets have a black base however 1 has golden yellow accents, and the other has burnt red accents. Each bangle has 3 oval shaped colorful sections on the top surface which is where the carved design is placed. The design has a leaf-like appearance which carries slightly onto the sides. The bracelets would fit best on a average to large size wrist. They would look great worn together and have a classic, Bakelite look! They would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The inside opening (where your wrist would rest) has a diameter of 2 1/2". The top surface of each bracelet measures a little more than 3/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of each bracelet is excellent. There are some minor surface scratches which is not unusual for a bracelet from this period.
