An absolutely exquisite Victorian (ca1880) gold book chain. This stunning piece is comprised of alternating oblong diamond shaped and round 15kt gold links. The oblong diamond shaped links are 15kt yellow gold and are hollow inside with an ornate gold Etruscan wire work & rose gold appliqué design on the surface. The center of each diamond shaped link is pinched on both sides and folds over slightly. The alternating round links are made of 15kt rose gold. The contrasting colors in gold give the necklace a wonderful, rich look. The clasp looks to be original and is a large size, perfect for hanging a complementary Victorian locket or pendant from. It is a beautifully handmade piece that is very light to wear. It is one of the most gorgeous Victorian book chains that I have ever seen!

Measurements: The book chain measures 14 1/2" long. The oblong diamond shaped links are 3/8" wide, 1 1/8" long and 3/8" thick. The round links have an approximate diameter of 1/2".

Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold or Etruscan wire work. There are some surface scratches on the back of the chain however they are unnoticeable when worn. This is not uncommon for a Victorian piece. The clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition
