Edwardian 18kt Guilloché Enamel & Diamond Locket Necklace

SKU: AB17413

Guilloché is an engraving technique in which a very precise, intricate pattern is mechanically etched into an underlying material with very fine detail. Most commonly, the Guilloche surface was then enameled and the repetitive, intricate design would show through the colorful enamel.

A magnificent Guilloché enamel piece from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This exceptional 18kt yellow gold necklace is comprised of a round enameled locket and complimentary chain. The surface of the locket displays a rich, deep mulberry-colored enamel, with a single bezel set diamond in the center. Beneath the beautiful enamel is an exquisite Guilloche design, and around the outside edge is a white enamel and textured gold border. The inside of the piece reveals a round space to store a special photograph. The locket hangs from its original, complimentary chain that has a lorgnette style extension and four ellipse shaped links, each enameled with the same rich mulberry color. At the back of the chain is a simple spring ring clasp. A simply gorgeous piece, this wonderful necklace would make a special addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket has a diameter of 1 1/8” and is 3/16" thick. The entire length of the necklace measures 17" long, and the locket on its lorgnette extension hangs 3" long in the middle.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket and chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or Guilloché enamel work, and the diamond is intact. The locket opens easily and fastens securely, and the hinge is in good working order. The spring ring clasp on the chain is secure and in good working condition.
