A fantastic micro mosaic bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of gilded silver, the bangle style bracelet has a fairly wide surface with a marvelous micro mosaic design on the front. Tiny tiles with vivid colors of glass have been hand set into the image which depicts four turtle doves and very detailed flowers and leaves resting atop a bold black background. On either side of the center image is an smaller, accenting mosaic, each portraying a matching design of flowers with a burnt red background. Each mosaic is so fine, they almost look like paintings. A delicate border of twisted wirework frames the bracelet along the top and the bottom and the raised word "ROMA" can be found on the underside. The bracelet is hinged and clasps on the side. Most likely a collectable souvenir from Rome, Italy, this fantastic piece has a wonderful look when worn. It would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The interior diameter of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 3/8" wide and 2" tall. The surface of the bracelet measures 5/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gilded silver bracelet. The clasp and hinge are secure and in good working condition and the the mosaic pictures are in excellent condition.
