A magnificent enamel locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This exceptional piece is fairly large in size and made of sterling silver. The locket, which is a heart shape, has a surface covered in an unusual dark turquoise enameling. In the center, is a carved 8-point starburst that has 11 natural pearls set within it. The locket opens to reveal 2 places for your favorite photographs; 1 side has the original glass cover and the other side is missing the glass. The bail is matching blue enamel on both sides and attaches to a sterling jump ring at the top of the heart locket. The inside of the locket is stamped "JM", once on each side. A simply magnificent and unusual piece from the Victorian era that would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket measures approximately 1 7/8" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" thick. The enameled bail attached to the top is a little less than 5/8" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver or enameling and all of the pearls are intact. The locket closes easily and securely.
