A fabulous mixed metals locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of sterling, the locket is oval in shape and has an attractive three dimensional horseshoe design on the front surface. The design features a textured sterling background comprised of dozens of delicately etched triangles in the concave center of the piece. Along the edges of the horseshoe and at the top of the piece are several raised rose gold accents. The back of the locket has a smooth, sterling surface and the top of the locket has a silver loop that hangs from a fluted sterling bail, allowing it to be worn on a chain. The piece is hinged and opens to reveal space to store one of your favorite photographs behind glass. A wonderful and very attractive piece, it would look fantastic hung on a silver Victorian chain. This beautiful locket would be perfect for the equestrian enthusiast, and would make a lovely addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 2 1/4" long, is 1 1/4 wide and is slightly more than 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the sterling locket. The bail is intact, and the piece opens easily and stays securely closed.
