MARCUS & Co. Victorian 18kt Gold Diamond Engagement Ring 1.28ct
Best known for their Art Nouveau jewelry and silver, Marcus & Co. is an American jewelry firm started by Herman Marcus and his son in 1892. Their designs were of very high quality craftsmanship and their work is among the best examples of American Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts jewelry.
This Marcus & Co. engagement ring is a fine example of the legendary makers beautiful craft. From the Victorian (ca1892) era, this wonderful and classic ring is crafted in 18kt rosy yellow gold and holds a single sparkling diamond at the center. The diamond is an old Mine Cut and held within a crown-like 8-prong setting. The diamond weighs 1.28ct and has K color and VS2 clarity. Found along the shank of the ring is a personalized inscription which reads "Mother to Josie 1892" along the the "MARCUS & CO" hallmark. The ring was appraised by an independent and accredited GIA certified Gemologist in January 2018 and has a stated retail replacement value of $11,000.00. It is an absolutely stunning diamond and would make a perfect engagement ring!
Measurements: The ring is a finger size 6.5 but it could easily be re-sized.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the diamond stone, which is intact.
