Art Deco Sterling Silver & French Paste Stud Earrings
French paste is a vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.
A stunning pair of French paste earrings from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! These dazzling earrings feature gorgeous round crystals that are beautifully faceted on the front. Each crystal is particularly large in size and is held within a sterling belcher setting with a closed back. The facets on the front of each crystal gives the earrings a fabulous light-catching quality and could easily be mistaken for the real thing. They would look perfect for daily wear or special occasions and would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
Measurements: Each earring has a diameter of 1/2" and is 1/4" thick at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting and both paste stones are intact.
