Late Art Deco Chinese Sterling Carved Turquoise Necklace
A wonderful turquoise necklace from the late Art Deco (ca1930s) era! This lovely piece has an artistic design that beautifully reflects its Chinese origin. At the center is a vibrant turquoise pendant, which is hand-carved on both sides with a floral-like motif. The elongated pendant attaches to an ornate sterling bail which hangs from a complimentary turquoise link that attaches on either side to a fine sterling chain. The chain is accented by two turquoise beads which are set 1.5" from the center, perfectly completing the stunning design. The turquoise has a gorgeous sea foam green color and the piece looks fabulous when worn. The necklace fastens with a sterling clasp in the back, which is stamped "STERLING;" additionally, the back of the center floral link is stamped "STERLING." A stunning Art Deco piece, it would be right at home in any turquoise collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures 16" long. The pendant centerpiece hangs 1 1/2" long, is a little less than 5/8" wide and 1/8" thick. The turquoise beads measure approximately 4.3mm in size.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling chain, or to the carved turquoise plaque, link or beads. The clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
