Art Deco Austrian 14kt/Sterling Rose + Mine Cut Diamond Earrings
A beautiful pair of diamond earrings from the late Art Deco (ca1931) era! Of Austrian origin, these elegant round earrings are crafted in 14kt yellow gold topped with sterling silver, and display an ornate open wirework design. Four sparkling Old Mine Cut diamonds rest symmetrically at the center, sparkling beautifully with every turn. Delicate cutouts encircle each bezel set stone, almost giving the appearance that the diamonds "float." Old Rose Cut accent diamonds rest within the wirework design, and a gorgeous scalloped edge graced with delicate beadwork provides wonderful dimension to the piece. Fine milgraining details every edge, and a single bezel set accent diamond sparkles at the top, attached to a hinged lever back wire. The earrings dangle with lovely movement, framing the face beautifully, and stamped along each earring wire is an Austrian hallmark of a bird head (dating the piece to 1931), and the number "4" indicating the gold purity. Measurements: Each diamond earring hangs approximately 3/4" long (including the wire at the top), and measures 1/2" in diameter and is slightly less than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold and sterling silver setting. All of the diamonds are intact and securely set. The lever back earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
