A gorgeous book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This sterling silver piece is comprised of interlocking panel links featuring a bold ribbed design along the surface. Rectangular rings connect the links together, and each one is detailed with smoothly polished beads on both edges. Three bold, etched lines form the ribbed design, providing a wonderful texture to the piece. A large removable spring ring clasp rests at the center, allowing a complimentary pendant or locket to be attached if desired. Despite its substantial appearance, the hollow link design makes it quite lightweight and comfortable to wear. Whether paired with a hanging piece or worn alone, it makes a striking a statement, and is perfect for the sterling collector!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 17.5" long. Each link measures a little under 1" tall (bead to bead), about 5/8 wide, and approximately 1/4" thick. The inside of the spring ring clasp measures about 1/2" in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting. All of the links are intact and securely connected and the spring ring clasp is secure and in good working order. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is normal for jewelry of this age and adds to its beauty and character.
