Retro Large Bakelite Injected Dot Clip Earrings
Bakelite is a resin material that was produced in the early 1900's and was the first plastic substance made of synthetic components. Initially used for its electrically non-conductive and heat resistant properties in radio and telephone castings, the material was also used in other products such as children's toys, kitchenware and jewelry. Typically made of bright, beautiful colors, Bakelite has become very collectible over recent years and is appreciated amongst many vintage jewelry lovers worldwide.
A fabulous pair of carved Bakelite earrings from the Retro (ca1940) era! These wonderful clip earrings are rather large in size, and have a concave circular shape. A series of yellow dots are injected into the brown caramel-colored base, creating a beautiful polka dot pattern! On the back of each is a simple earring clip, allowing the earrings to be worn on pierced or unpierced ears. Despite their substantial size, they are lightweight and very comfortable to wear. Very fun and funky, these bold earrings would make a wonderful addition to any vintage Bakelite collection!
Measurements: The earrings have a 1 1/8 diameter and measure 3/8" thick at the deepest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the Bakelite or to the earring clips, which are secure and in good working condition.
