Vintage Mexican Sterling + Enamel "Margot Style" Snake Earrings
These fantastic vintage snake earrings are quite similar in style to Margot de Taxco's incredible designs! Each sterling silver earring forms the shape of a coiled snake, decorated with gorgeous, colorful enamel. The entire surface features scale-like cells, which are covered in multi-colored specks of soft blue, sea foam green, and golden yellow. Rich, black enamel highlights the snake's facial features, and wraps around the base of its neck. Resting at the back are securely hinged clips, allowing the earrings to be worn on pierced or unpierced ears. Their placement allows the snakes to appear as if it coiled above and draped boldly below the earlobes, a fabulous design element! Stamped on one earring back is a faded hallmark featuring the number "16," and on the other is the serial number "5554." A remarkable pair of statement earrings, they are perfect for any snake lover to add to their jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring measures approximately 1 3/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. The hinged earring backs are secure and in good working order. There is a trace amount of surface wear to the enamel near each snake head, however it is minor and not noticeable when worn.
