Victorian Scottish Sterling, Citrine & Horn Bottle Pendant

SKU: 29390

$1,295

A fabulous and very unusual piece from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This horn and sterling silver bottle has wonderful detail and is fairly large in size. The body is comprised of a single horn that has a sterling silver hinged topper. A fantastic repousse design covers the entire topper with a thistle and leaf motif. At the top of the bottle is a large sized faceted citrine stone that is bezel set in sterling. The tip of the horn is finished with a sterling silver thistle cap that is detailed with an etched design and another, smaller citrine stone. A smooth shield graces the underside of the horn. The horn vessel hangs horizontally and two silver rings are attached at either end. The rings connect to a silver chain which hangs from a large sterling jump ring. The top of the sterling bottle flips open easily which was probably used as a place for a woman's favorite perfume. This wonderful piece would look fabulous hanging from a long sterling chain and would make a beautiful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The bottle measures approximately 3/4" tall, 3 1/4" at the widest point, and 3/4" at the deepest point. When hanging, the horn pendant measures approximately 3" long from the top of the large sterling jump ring to the bottom of the horn. The two citrines have diameters of 10.75mm and 7.5mm.

Condition: The overall condition of the scent bottle is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver and the bottle topper flips open easily and stays securely closed. In addition, there is no apparent damage to the horn body or to the citrine stones.
