Art Deco Chinese 9kt Hand Carved Carnelian Bat Earrings

SKU: 41646

$995

A beautiful and unusual pair of earrings from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! Each of these gorgeous earrings are of Chinese origin and feature a wonderful hand carved carnelian stone hanging from simple 9kt gold wires. The dangling carnelian link portrays a 3-dimensional open-winged bat with lovely details depicting its delicate facial features, pointed ears, and expansive wings. The creature sits atop a circular plaque with a round cut out at the center, and two additional cutouts are visible below each wing, giving the earrings a beautiful see-through design. Each stone is capped in polished gold and hang from a carnelian cabochon bead topper which attaches to a simple gold earring wire. The translucent carnelian stones display rich, fiery orange and cherry red hues perfectly complimenting the soft yellow gold. When worn, the earrings frame the face beautifully, and dangle with lovely movement!

Measurements: Each earrings hangs approximately 1 3/8" in total length. The dangling carnelian link measures about 1/2" wide and are a little more than 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. There is a small chip on the side of one of the bead surmounts, however, this is not noticeable from the front or when worn. Otherwise, besides normal surface wear, there is no additional damage or chips to the carnelian links and the gold earring wires are in good working order.
