During the 19th century the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and brought on what is referred to as “archaeological revival jewelry”. The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820's and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery such as the scarab beetle.

A very unique scarab set from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous set is comprised of a pair of earrings and pendant that carry the same, complimentary design. The fabulous earrings hold a single scarab bug, which is set in 14kt yellow gold. The real, petrified scarab bugs are prong set with a smooth gold underside. Each bug is surrounded by a coiled snaked frame that continues to curl toward the gold surmount, which displays an ivy leaf shaped design. The complementary pendant also holds a prong set scarab bug. A smooth, gold serpent frames the bug, which hangs from a simple gold bail. Each scarab bug has gorgeous coloring, with hues of iridescent green, blue and brown. It’s a lovely set that would make a fantastic addition to any collection!

Measurements: Each earring hangs 1 1/4" long, is slightly more than 1/2" wide, and a little more than 1/4” thick. The pendant measures a little more than 3/4" long, a little more than 1/2" wide and slightly more than 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the set is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold or to the scarab bugs.
