Vauxhall glass (also known as "mirror glass") refers to a specific style of colored glass production originating in the Georgian era. The colorful molded glass was backed in silver to create a reflective "mirror" below the surface, which creates a unique light-catching quality. The colors often included deep, rich shades of red, purple, white, and black (sometimes mistaken for jet), and were generally mounted in brass. Antique Vauxhall glass jewelry remains popular with collectors in modern times!

A fabulous pair of Vauxhall earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! These beautiful earrings are crafted in brass and feature vibrant marquis-shaped red Vauxhall glass layered to create a starburst pattern. A round Vauxhall glass rests in the center of the starburst and the design is complete with a final stone at the base of the wire surmount. A brass backing displays a lovely pattern behind the earrings and both dangle with lovely movement, beautifully framing the face and catching the light with every turn. These earrings would be an excellent addition to any Victorian collection!

Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 1 15/16" long including the earring wire. The starburst measures about 1 7/16" in diameter.

Condition: The earrings remain in very good overall antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the brass setting or wires. The Vauxhall glass displays minor chips at some of the tips that are not visible when worn, and do not negatively impact the beauty or overall integrity of the earrings.
