Georgian 18kt Inscribed Tablet Cut Diamond Ring 0.68ct

SKU: 40524

$8,995

A very unusual and special diamond ring from the Georgian (ca1820) era! Crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold, this rare single stone piece features a lovely and romantic design. A sparkling old Tablet Cut diamond graces the center, held within a wide, square bezel frame. The stone weighs approximately 0.68ct and the unique cut sparkles beautifully in the light within an open-backed setting. Surrounding the centerpiece is a solid gold band adorned with a very sentimental inscription that carries around the entire exterior and interior length of the shank. Engraved along the outside, the special message reads: "United hearts death only parts" while the inside reads "Fear God and Love me." Additionally, the letter "M" was found inside the shank, which could have been part of a makers mark or hallmark that was removed to add the personalized inscription. A beautiful and romantic antique ring, it would make a unique alternative engagement ring or a special addition to any collection!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size 9, but could be resized slightly, however, this may affect the engraved inscription. The square diamond centerpiece measures approximately 3/8" tall and slightly more than 1/4" wide.

Condition: The ring remains in excellent antique condition. There is normal wear to the surface of the gold band, including spots where the inscription is wearing away. We have decided to keep the ring in its original condition, however, the engraving could easily be repaired if desired. Besides this normal surface wear, there is no other apparent damage to the gold setting or to the diamond, which is intact and securely set. Due to the hand cut nature of old diamonds, the stone does not have perfect symmetry, which reflects the age and genuine appearance of an antique diamond.
