Georgian 18kt Huge Hand Wrought Turquoise Earrings
Absolutely incredible hand wrought gold and turquoise earrings from the Georgian (ca1830) period. These fantastic earrings are made of 18kt gold and are particularly large in size. With a magnificent and royal-looking appearance, each has a scrolled and woven repousse design covering the entire surface. Each earring begins with a single turquoise stone topper that attaches to a long earring wire. A long, but very light link hangs from the surmount which carries an incredible 3-dimensional design of textured scrolled gold. A single turquoise stone rests at the top of the large link of the earring and a 5 stone turquoise cluster rests in the center. The earrings are simply magnificent and in excellent condition. They look gorgeous on and would be perfect for a special occasion. They are a must-have for a Georgian jewelry collector!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 5/8" long, is 1" at the widest point and has a depth of 5/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Due to the very delicate nature of the earrings, there is some normal, but very minor damage to the gold work, however, this isn't apparent when the earrings are worn. A natural patina appears on the surface of the gold, which adds to the rich look of the earrings. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition and all of the turquoise stones are intact.
