Edwardian English Sterling/9kt Rose Gold Medallion Shield Pendant
A wonderful medallion pendant from the Edwardian era (ca1905)! This decorative English-made piece is crafted in sterling silver with a raised 9kt rose gold overlay, boasting a lovely mixed metals appeal. The medal is shield-shaped, with a smooth signet center where a set of initials could be engraved if desired. Lightly etched details decorate the sterling backing and the rose gold border, which features shapely swirls and scrolls. Several English hallmarks are stamped on the back of the piece, including a lion, the letter "f," and the maker's initials "W.A." Also engraved on the back is personalized commemorative inscription, which reads "E. U. C. C. 1ST XI R.R. 1905." The decorative medallion hangs from a simple loop at the top, and would look stylish paired with a complimentary chain!
Measurements: The medallion hangs 1 1/2" long (including the ring at the top), and measures 1" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The ring at the top for hanging is securely attached.
