Victorian French Sterling Silver Double-Sided Locket + Key To My Heart Pendant
A beautiful French picture locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this lovely double-sided piece features a round silver encasement, which holds two clear celluloid inserts. The crystal clear faces act as a window, allowing the lovely miniature key charm to be showcased on both sides of the pendant. The smoothly polished key features an open circle handle, a barrel shaft and a simple cutout along the square key head. A round bail at the top is creatively incorporated into the design, acting as the screw top which opens the encasement and allows the wearer to customize the piece, if desired. The encasement features a wonderful grooved surface and 4 textured "X" motifs symmetrically placed around the edge, adding a wonderful eye-catching element to the design. Stamped on the bail is a faded French maker's mark beside a French hallmark of either a boar head or crab. An endearing Victorian piece that blends seamlessly into modern day fashion, it would make a perfect everyday accessory!
