During the 19th century, the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced what is referred to as "archaeological revival jewelry," or "Egyptian revival jewelry." The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820s onward, and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery, such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs, and hieroglyphics.

A fabulous turquoise scarab ring from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This stunning piece is crafted in vibrant 14kt yellow gold and displays a fantastic bezel set turquoise scarab beetle at the center, accented by incredibly detailed female Pharoah busts at each shoulder. Surrounding the turquoise scarab, along the top and bottom edge of the piece, are fabulous raised images of an egret, loon, and a lizard, embellished by a textured surface. The gorgeous mounting sits high on the finger and its lovely engraved design can be seen from all angles. The color of the natural turquoise is absolutely beautiful, displaying a vibrant, deep aqua blue hue and featuring prominent natural spider webbing throughout the stone. On the shank, reveals a stamped "14" next to a small maker's mark. This ring could easily be sized to be worn by a man or woman. This wonderful and rare piece would make a lovely addition to any collection!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 6 but it could easily be resized. The scarab centerpiece, including the detailed gold frame, is a little less than 5/8" at the widest point, 5/8" tall and rests 3/8" above the finger when worn.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the turquoise scarab beetle.
