Edwardian Rolled Gold Carved Resin Pipe + Compass Watch Fob Pendant
A charming smoking pipe fob pendant from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This lovely 3-dimensional piece is crafted in vibrant rolled gold and resin and portrays the shape of a traditional tobacco smoking pipe. The smoothly polished mouthpiece and stem hold a soft brown-colored resin bowl, which is decorated with etched grooves along the entire surface, creating a lovely eye-catching design. Resting at the front of the bowl is a working compass featuring red and black directional script, with a moving arrow in the center, set behind a crystal window. The pendant hangs beautifully at an angle, thanks to a simple round bail that rests at the center of the pipe handle, perfect for hanging the piece from a favorite chain. A wonderful and nostalgic collector's item, this pendant would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pipe fob pendant measures about 1 7/8" tall, and is 5/8" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the rolled gold setting or to the resin. The bail is secure and in good working condition and at current time, the compass is in good working order. There is some slight wear to the surface of the crystal of the compass, which is normal for a piece of this age, and is not noticeable when worn.
