Considered one of the finest Mexican silver craftsmen from the twentieth century, Antonio Pineda began his art at a young age. He studied painting and sculpture as a youth and at age 14 he was apprenticed to Taller de Las Delicias of William Spratling to learn the silversmith craft. Antonio founded his own workshop in 1941 and his talent flourished.
This vintage sterling and moonstone bracelet is a fabulous Antonio Pineda piece from the 1970's! Made of sterling silver, this bangle bracelet features 9 oval moonstones that are set along the front surface on the bracelet. The moonstones are all oval in shape and graduate slightly in size, resting within a channel-like setting.A small circular moonstone acts as the push clasp on the underside of the bracelet and and there is a safety chain for added security. The moonstones are very clear and have a lovely faint blue hue with iridescent flashes. On the inside of the bracelet are several markings: "HECHO EN MEXICO", "ZZ", "970", "901" and the Pineda crown hallmark. A beautiful piece, this bracelet would fit nicely on an average sized wrist. It would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurement: The bracelet's width measures 1/2" at the widest point and 1/4" at the least widest point. The inside opening (where your wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and 2" tall.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there are no apparent damage to the sterling setting and all of the moonstones are intact. The clasp and security chain are secure and in good working condition.
