GEORG JENSEN Vintage Sterling Chrysoprase Ring No. 19
Renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen was born in 1866. His training in metalsmithing and his education in the Fine Arts enabled him to develop a successful career based in beautiful jewelry and silver design. His signature Art Nouveau style grew increasingly popular and Jensen became a world renowned artist. Although Jensen died in 1935, his pieces are still being created today using the same craftsmanship as when he was alive.
This sterling silver ring is a great example of Georg Jensen's craft. Approximately from circa 1945, it is comprised of a single oval shaped cabochon chrysoprase stone which rests in a simple yet beautiful sterling silver mounting. The chrysoprase is bezel set and displays a rich, deep hunter green color and the silver frame has a petal-like design which encircles the vibrant center stone. A split band at the shoulders blends seamlessly into a simple sterling band, perfectly completing the beautiful design. On the underside of the ring is the signature "GEORG JENSEN" hallmark which was used after 1945, "STERLING", "DENMARK", and the number "19". This fabulous piece would make a great addition to any Jensen collection!
Measurements: The oval shaped chrysoprase centerpiece (including its sterling frame) measures a little more than 1/2" wide, 7/8" tall and has a depth of 3/8". The ring has a finger size 8.5 but it could easily be resized.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the chrysoprase stone and no significant damage to the silver setting.
