Victorian Huge 18kt/Sterling + Sapphire Anchor Necklace
A fabulous anchor pendant necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece is comprised of a bold anchor pendant, which is crafted in 18kt rosy yellow gold and attaches to a fine wirework chain. The anchor, which is particularly large in size, features a fantastic three-dimensional design complete with a ornate dangling chain and a textured sterling silver rope which wraps around the shank of the polished anchor. A raised pyramidal rests at the center of the stock, right below the eye, adding fabulous detail to the piece. At the crown of the anchor is a gorgeous oval-shaped cabochon sapphire, which is set with an open back, allowing the striking blue color to shine through. Dangling freely from the fluke and stock of the anchor, is a thick, polished rosy gold link chain, adding to the wonderful and unique nautical look. The pendant attaches on either side to a complimentary 14kt yellow gold Victorian chain featuring alternating and interlocking rings, including rings with rope-like details, that fastens in the back with a spring ring clasp. Originally a pin, the anchor has since been converted into a pendant, and when worn, it hangs stylishly at an angle. A wonderful nautical-themed and fashionable piece, it would make a special addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The total length of the necklace is 17". The anchor pendant measures 2 1/2" long, 1 1/8" wide at its widest, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to rose gold anchor, sterling silver rope or to the sapphire, which is secure and intact. The chain is securely attached, and the clasp is in excellent working condition.
