Art Nouveau English 18kt 5-Stone Opal Ring
A gorgeous opal ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1911) era! This beautiful piece is crafted in 18kt yellow gold and adorns a row of five vibrant opal cabochons that line the front. The prong set stones graduate in size and display a stunning iridescent quality that flashes in the light, exhibiting incredibly vibrant shades of blue, green, red and deep violet. A gorgeous swirled carved design adorns the shoulders and the ornate prong setting is visible from the sides. A smooth band graduates slightly towards the back and stamped inside of the shank are several English hallmarks including the marker's mark, "B.H.J.," a crown, "18," a shield (indicating that the piece was assayed in Chester) and an upper case cursive "L" (indicating that it was hallmarked in 1911). A stunning and feminine ring, it would make a special everyday piece that could be worn alone stacked with other rings!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 6.75, but could easily be resized. The opal centerpiece measures approximately 3/4" long, 1/4" wide, and rests a little less than 1/4" above the finger when worn. The graduated band measures approximately 2.5mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. All of the opals are intact and securely set.
