Victorian 18kt Gold Turquoise Figa Fist Fob/Pendant
A Figa is a symbol worn around the world to attract good luck to the person wearing it. It's depicted by a single clenched fist and can be made of metal, wood, stone or ivory and is traditionally thought to bring good luck only if it is given as a gift.
A wonderful gold Figa fob/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece, which is crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold, is fairly large in size and wonderfully detailed. At the wrist is a ridged texture which represents a gold bracelet and the top of the arm features a cap detailed with a soft hand etched design and four vivid turquoise stones. Indentations at the tips of the fingers mimic the look of fingernails and a simple gold bail rests at the top, perfect for hanging from a long gold chain. It's a lovely example of the Figa symbol and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The gold Figa pendant hangs approximately 1 1/2" long, is 3/8" at the widest point and 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the gold pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold Figa or details and all of the turquoise stones are intact.
