A wonderful Victorian era collectible coin pendant from the year 1887! Originally created to mark the 50th anniversary (also known as the Golden Jubilee) of Queen Victoria's reign over the United Kingdom, this gilded sterling silver piece has since been converted into a pendant. One side now displays a colorful painted enamel image, which is an artistic rendition of the original design portraying a muscular St. George on his horse, slaying a dragon with his sword. The fantastic portrayal showcases his rich red cape, vivid yellow and black helmet, white horse, and a scaled emerald green dragon above the date "1887" in vibrant blue enameling. The other side of the coin features the original slightly raised profile bust of the Queen wearing her elaborate crown and jewels, with the abbreviated Latin phrase "VICTORIA D:G: BRITT: REG: F:D:" (which translates in full to Victoria, by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faithcurved around the perimeter. The relatively large pendant features a grooved edge, and finishing the design is a simple bail at the top, perfect for adding to a favorite chain. A unique and eye-catching piece, it would delight any history lover, and would make a one-of-a-kind addition to any jewelry collection!

Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 1 7/8" long (including the bail), measures 1 1/2" in diameter, and is slightly less than 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded sterling silver coin or to the enameled surface. The bail is secure and in good working order.
