ALICE CAVINESS Art Deco Sterling Enamel Flower Pin
A wonderful Alice Caviness enamel flower pin from the late Art Deco (ca1930) era! This lovely piece is made of sterling silver and depicts a basket of flowers filled with 8 colorful flowers. The basket has beautiful yellow and brown enameling with a textured surface beneath the enamel which creates an ornate basket weave design. The flowers are beautiful and blue and all but one has a single sparkling marcasite stone set in the center. Also resting in the basket are curled green leaves and a yellow enamel handle can be found at the handle of the basket. The piece carries a wonderful 3-dimensional look and on the back is a secure pin clasp. The bottom of the basket is stamped "GERMANY", "ALICE CAVINESS" and "STERLING SILVER". It's a simply beautiful piece and would look great worn alone or with a group of other enameled pins!
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 1 3/8" tall, 1 1/8" wide and has a depth of 3/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting and all of the marcasite stones are intact. There is normal surface wear to the enameling however it does not detract from the beauty of the piece. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
