Victorian 18kt Sapphire & Rose Cut Diamond Horseshoe Pin
A fantastic horseshoe pin from the Victorian (ca1899) era! Made of 18kt yellow gold, the stunning pin is fairly large in size and has a sparkling jewel encrusted surface. Depicting the shape of a wide horseshoe, the piece is detailed with 21 graduated fine Burma sapphires, which are oval-shaped and beautifully faceted. The sapphire stones stones weigh approximately 3.50ctw and display a gorgeous vivid blue color. Surrounding the open backed sapphires are 59 sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds, which weigh approximately 4.80ctw and form a stunning border around the entire piece. Four of the diamonds are delicately placed in between the largest sapphire stones at the bottom, completing the design perfectly. All of the stones are set within a beautiful yellow gold setting, which features an attractive scalloped wirework design on the sides. The inside of the horseshoe bears a personalized inscription in flowing script, which reads: "Uncle Harry & Aunt Elsie to Phyllis 1899". The piece fastens with a simple gold bar pin and secure pin clasp on the back. A real beauty, this outstanding pin would make an incredible addition to any collection!
Measurements: The horseshoe pin measures 1 1/8" wide, approximately 1 1/4" tall, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the horseshoe pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold setting or to the diamond and sapphire stones, all of which are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
