Art Nouveau 18kt Diamond + Pearl Repousse "Diana the Goddess" Pendant
A stunning repousse pendant from the Art Nouveau (ca1900s) era! This incredibly lovely piece is crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold and displays the wonderful repousse image of Diana, who according to Roman mythology, was the goddess of the hunt, wild animals, the moon, fertility, childbirth and children. The intricately detailed picture includes soft, realistic facial features, locks of hair swept up around her head, a crescent moon atop her head, an off-the-shoulder dress, and the fletching from her collection of arrows peaking from behind her shoulder. Lustrous natural pearls are set in the four corners of the round pendant in a north-south-east-west design, each accented by two delicate old Rose Cut diamonds on either side. The pendant hangs from a hidden bail on the back, perfect for hanging from your favorite chain. The piece appears to have originally been an open back locket, however, currently there is not a glass face covering. This unusual and beautiful pendant is quite a special piece and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant measures 1 1/4" tall, 1 1/8" wide and is 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting and all of the Rose Cut diamonds and pearls are intact.
