Austrian Victorian 14kt Tourmaline + Etruscan Bead Necklace 17.5"
A gorgeous tourmaline beaded necklace from the late Victorian (ca1900) era! Hand-crafted in Austria, this bold piece is comprised of graduated tourmaline beads that fasten with an exquisitely decorated clasp. The polished beads graduate slightly in size and exhibit incredible forest and light green hues throughout. Symmetrically placed in a subtle pattern within the beaded necklace are gold beads adorned with applied Etruscan wirework, providing fabulous texture to the design. The necklace is hand-strung on green thread and fastens in the back with a decorative push clasp and safety latch. Gracing the center of the clasp is a faceted tourmaline flanked by sparkling white sapphires in a sterling silver bezel on either side. The stunning stones rest among a swirled etched design, and fine milgrained detail creates a lovely border. Stamped on the clasp's tongue is a "585" gold purity mark along with an Austrian hallmark featuring a "W" city mark for Vienna. When worn, the piece drapes beautifully at the neckline and makes a lovely statement piece. The necklace can be worn day or night and would make a stunning addition to any collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 17.5" long. The largest tourmaline bead measures about 11mm in size, and the smallest measures 6.5mm. The clasp measures about 7/8 long, 3/8" wide, and a little more than 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the tourmaline or gold Etruscan beads, all of which are securely strung. The clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
