Victorian 14kt Ornate Open Wirework Beaded Necklace 29"
A fabulous ornate beaded necklace from the late Victorian (ca1900) era! This stunning and unusual piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and comprised of oval-shaped beads which alternate with smaller round beads to create a unique and feminine appeal. Each bead features an elaborate swirled leaf design along the surface which creates delicate cutouts, revealing its hollow interior. The smoothly polished surface reflects the light beautifully, while some of the swirled design is embellished with light etching, forming a lovely contrasting texture. The hinged clasp (stamped with a "14K" gold purity mark on the back) opens and fastens securely over the loop on the other end that is threaded into the closure. Simple connector rings attach each bead together, allowing it to rest beautifully below the neckline, and its hollow nature makes it lightweight for comfortable wear. This Victorian necklace merges seamlessly into modern day fashion and would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 29" long. Each oval-shaped bead measures approximately 5/8" wide and 3/8" thick, while the smaller round beads measure about 1/4" in diameter. The overall pennyweight of the piece is 32.4dwt (50.4 grams).
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold setting. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
